Going on a rampage

Sooo i feel like venting slightly. I am not very good at expressing my feelings, i tend to keep them all bottled up inside and today was one of those days where anything that happend could easily light my fuse and a bomb would go off! Too often I tell myself lor don't get mad it's no big deal, the world is not coming to an end because of it. Well sometimes i just wanna be mad for awhile, human nature sharing natural feelings and emotions la ti da. Today was one of those mad at the world days! And believe me I do have days where I get quite frustrated and upset with the certain aspects of this life. ohhh bratha

Devoted to Prayer

So how is everyone doing? Great I hope!!! I am doing fantastic! Today was awesome because for some reason I really liked how it was rainy and cold outside and just felt like a nice day to stay inside and be nice and warm and cozy. :) Well I am finally getting my room unpacked after waiting some time for a dresser to arrive, which is very nice because I've been walking around boxes now for over a week.
At the beginning of 2006 I will be going on a missions trip to the Philippines with Grace Brethren Church in Waterloo. It's a small team of only about 8-10 people but pray that God will do BIG things through us for His glory. Sooooo unbelievably excited about the trip! Please pray for support financially and prayerfully.
OHHHH!!! I got my car back on Friday!!!! I was extremely excited to have it back. Yeah I know it's not too good how attached I can get to it at times. It all is going to burn at some point and time, but I really am enjoying while it's not to that point yet. :)
Hmmm....so I was reading the WORD today in Colossians and came across a really good reminder for maintaining a good relationship with Christ. There must be some sort of communication to have a relationship and I think it is in Chapter 4 that Paul says "Devote yourselves to prayer." So then I asked myself, "what am I devoted to?" Jobs, church, friends, family, cell phone, car, clothes etc... There are times where I tend to put the present and visible items before the unseen and what really matters in life; (talking to God). Therefore be far more devoted to prayer (to communicating with God) than some other aspect of your life because everything else is basically meaningless. :)

Few quotes worth blogging

The Christian life of love is a supernatural life. It is not produced by merely human forces. It takes resources that we do not have. This is very crucial for us to admit. It is humbling. Left to ourselves we cannot love. But this is very encouraging. Because what it means is that, if you are sitting there and feeling: I am not by nature a loving person, you are not at a disadvantage, because in fact nobody is by nature a loving person. If we were, love would not be a fruit of the Holy Spirit; it would be a fruit of our personality or our upbringing or our chromosomes. In fact you may be farther along than a person who feels that love is a natural thing. They will have a harder time learning how to love because they may not look for the resources in the right place. JP

The Christian life is supposed to be lived every day in the same way that it began. In the Christian life you don't graduate from Spirit to flesh or from faith to works. The Christian life begins with faith and the Holy Spirit; and it is lived by faith and by the Spirit. Faith is the first grade of the Christian life and it is the graduate school of the Christian life. And the Holy Spirit is the teacher and the power at every level. We never graduate to something else. It's always faith and the Spirit. JP <"http://www.desiringgod.org">

Everything's Changing When I Turn Around

Howdy! My email address has changed because there has been a slight change in plans. I was studying TESOL at the University of Northern Iowa, but as of Thursday October 6th I have withdrawled from the school because I am not interested in the program. It's not like I woke up one day and said "I don't want to go to school anymore." I've been trying to find something I like and I thought for sure I had found it. However as I got into the program and the classes I realized that my expectations didn't meet the reality of what is really is. I highly despise being in school, which is my main reason for not being a teacher. Just can not stand it now so I dont think I'd like to be in it for a career.
So currently I am working as much as possible and in the fall I will probably attend Hawkeye Community College and study Child Development because all I really want to do in life is being a homemaker who is involved in alot of ministry whether in the church or outside of it. Oh and someday it would be cool if we owned a little bread and breakfast.

September 2005

You will find that I have randomly placed photos on this web site. Basically these photos describe what I have been up to the past month of September. To begin let me start with the weekend of the 16h and 17th. Me and some friends went to our other friend's place in Iowa City to attend the Iowa vs. UNI football game. Got to experience some real tailgating (Not like small UNIS) and enjoyed the game very much.
Alot of the pictures I have posted are from Tisha and Chris Murray's wedding reception. I can't believe they finally tied the knot! WOW! Congradulations kids!
And lastly there is a picture of my car. Yes on September 22, 2005 my car was taken to the cc to get better. An older man failed to yield while changing lanes and damaged me. sad. BUT THERE ARE FAR MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE THAN A CAR!
So there you have the description of the pictures. Enjoy!

Brown Bottle Rehearsal Dinner 09-23-05

Hilz, Matty, Aaron, Meg at Carver for the Iowa football game. Some of us didn't have Iowa apparal so we had to do some shopping.

Nickie and I also at the reception.

Ben and I at the reception. We've come a long ways since kindergarden.

8/28/2005

Well it's been quite some time since I last blogged and now I really want to get this out. I've had an extremely difficult time the past year and a half with my relationship with Christ. Everyone knows of what we've gone through, but not always what we are going through. Today Pastor John said we are to love those who even do wrong to us and hurt us. "How the heck am I suppose to love a man who killed my cousin?" How do I love someone who has caused ssssssooooooo much pain, agony, and sorrow. Furthermore as result of his mistake, lives no longer live but have evaporated. (I hate seeing people in such pain! My heart goes out to you, I don't know how you do it. I have a hard enough time as it is.)
Over 2000 years ago there was a man who was killed by myself. Meaning my sins nailed him to that tree, and all he's wanted is to share life with me. Yet all of my life at certain times I deny him and rebuke him, and he stilllll is standing there with open arms saying, "Lori, you are forgiven." I can't even measure the pain he must experience because of my lack of love for him. He forgives me no matter what I do because he wants the best for me and was willing to sacrafice his own life so that I might not burn but turn.
Some days I think I have forgiven the man who has killed my cousin, but honestly I do have some days where forgiveness is just not a word that can be found in my lexicon. I guess it all comes down to endless love.

I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!

Last night was our Family and Friends night where all the ice cream was free and we had a blast!!!! I work at Cold Stone Creamery now and it is so much fun! You don't just scoop and mix ice cream all day long you get to sing and dance and do little jigs! Plus our ice cream is made fresh everyday from our store so it's reallllyyy gooood! For chocolate and peanut butter fan I highly recommend the Peanut Butter Cup Perfection, oh baby is it good! We have our grand opening Saturday the 16th of April. Stop in between 11 and 3 when I work. Supposedly there is going to be some celebs from the Cedar Valley helpin us out. Have a great day!

3/30/2005

Yeah I know I am cute even without my clothes on!

Mahn he's growing up sooo fast! He is 10 months old and such a cutie.

3/24/2005

SIX MONTHS!!! Are you kidding me!?!?!

Soo I went back to the doctor today for the regular check up after surgery, and well lets just say I didn't want to hear what he had to say. "4 weeks and you should have full motion back. Don't do anything for 6 months." WHAT THE WORLD!?!! It's more like I've got 2 months to get this baby back to full strength. Either that or my left arm is going to get very strong this summer. So I guess trying to learn a flip is out this summer (j/k I need alot more practice before I can attempt a flip a roo.)

You have no idea how much I love wakeboarding and playing sand volleyball. If I wasn't called to be in ministry then I would go for being a professional wakeboarder, how fun would that be! Maybe throw some surfing in there too.

Along with these sports come wonderful memories that I hope will never leave this mind of mine. Thank you to cuzin Kyle for introducing these exciting and fun sports to us. I'm sure he will have a nice laugh when he sees me take a fall here and there. We miss you, but I don't want to stop something that I have grown to enjoy and reminds me of you and your sense of adventure. I love you Sarge, Silver Fox, and Sis.

Lindsey on the left and Lori and the right. This is our first time riding double. Gotta love tan lines. Why are my pictures so blurry on the internet? that bugs me.

Ok so this is alittle dated, 2 years ago. Senior picture, but I don't have alot of me wakeboarding cause i haven't mastered the task yet of taking a picture while wakeboarding.

Recovering

Surgery went very well. Doc removed about an inch of bone and he diagnosed it as a bone spur. Recovery is going better than expected. I almost passed out when taking the pain pump out of my arm because you keep pulling this tube and you keep pulling and then finally it comes out! oh yuck! I could never be in the medical profession!!!! Praise God and thanks for your prayers.

OK so I don't really like to tell people when I have problems (which can be very selfish) so I am letting you know on my blog. On March 11th I will be going under. Under the knife that is. I will be having shoulder surgery. Not sure yet about all the details but definately could use the prayer for the doctors and the recovery (cough cough so I can go wakeboarding this summer). nerves might be another thing to lift up also. Okay kids have a great day.

Give me my food people or else.

Yeha i can almost walk.

B E A utiful

Ok so tonight I definately experienced God's creativity in creating us. We were over at the new church cleaning it out and unpacking items tonight when I stopped and looked around and was like "WOW this is soooo pretty. The colors go so well together that it is B E A utiful!!! How anyone could ever think of the patterns and color scheme definately has been given a gift from above." Seriously it looks amazing!
Okay I also have to say that I took a peek in the sanctuary. All the chairs are set up, along with all of the instruments on the stage. There was only one spot light on and a piano being tuned; it was more peaceful than a lake at 6am. The thing that gets ya the most is the thought that "people are going to come to know Christ in this place someday, just think how many more names will be checked off and added to the Kingdom because of the great work God is doing here!!!!!"
Now alot of people tend to think that the new church is too big and that it is not necessary to have all of the technology equipment we have or are planning to get. However I say to them go ahead keep your b****ing to yourself because you know what God has blessed us with this new building. For example on might say, "Well, there are Christians in Africa who have a church made out of hand made cement that is only one room, and they don't have any sound system except for their voice. They are content with what they have and they truly enjoy their church and are totally in love with Jesus." OK may I remind you that God did not create us all to be the same; rather He made us with a touch of VARIETY, so that means that cultures obviously are going to vary in beliefs, rituals, actions, possessions, and so on. Some people are going to have more tools in this world than others, but God is still the same for all of the cultures. Having more tools does not make one more special or desirable in God's eyes because all they really are, are tools and the important thing is that we look beyond the tools to the toolman Himself. Our Father has definately blessed us with this new building that we sometimes get bitter and think well it's too performance like and it looks too nice. OK since when did God's house have to be dull, ugly, crappy, and boring? Please someone let me know cause I am quite unfamilar with the house of the Lord being ugly. Oh another thing, if you say that churches in Africa have just one room and are satisfied with that, what do their houses look like? Do they even have houses? I bet their homes are nothing like the one you live in. You probably have your own bedroom whereas they all probably share a room or two. So if you think our church is too big and is too nice because their are people in Africa who can worship God in a one room building, then I ask you this "If people in Africa can survive by living in a two room home made out of who knows what, then don't you think that you should be living in a house like that and forget the 4 bedroom, 2 baths house your living in now?" Oh BUT wait we do not live in Africa. Silly me I must have forgotten! We live in one of the wealthiest countries of the world we need to realize that these tools are opportunities for ministry for OUR culture. Don't deny it anymore that their is diversity in the world. For my next blog I will continue with why God created diversity.

And The Training Begins. . . . .

I have always wanted to particpate in a marathon and I am finally going to make that happen. It's one of my goals in life to compete and complete a 26 mile race. Here's what the training road looks like for working up to a marathon: start out with a few 5ks then move up to 10k then on to a half a marathon and then finally a whole marathon. Today I started training for a 5k that is next October. Anyone care to join me? Yes it's running and many people do not like running, but hey your body is a holy temple. How are you keeping your heart healthy? Ok do not mean to sound like a health nut, but just want you guys to be able to live life to the fullest not only with Jesus but with your brothers and sisters here on earth. :)If you have any questions or comments please leave them aqui. Adios!

If You Want Me To--by Ginny Owens

Do you ever find a song that you can relate to exactly!?!?! When I heard this one I was like wow, that is such a great song and it is so encouraging because it reminds me that everything is going to be okay because the almighty, all-knowing God is in control!

The pathway is broken
And The signs are unclear
And I don't know the reason why You brought me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I'm gonna walk through the valley
If You want me to

Chorus:
Cause I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise You're not through with me yet
so if all of these trials bring me closer to you
Then I will go through the fire
If You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
When you lead me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
You only said I'd never go alone

So When the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley
If You want me to

Irag Election Day

So election day may be only 48 hours away for Iraqis, but it is never too late to lift up fellow believers in prayer. There have been several threats about the election day. The enemy is at work and he must be defeated! Right now I encourage you to stop what you are doing and pray for our fellow Iragi believers. Pray that they will hold true to Ecc. 12:13 "Fear GOD and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of man" and that they will not fear man, so that they may go to the polls with confidence and assurance!!! The outcome of this election is very significant for our free nation. We all know of someone who has been or currently is enrolled in the military, and truely we Thank GOD for you men and women! Thank you for going and helping out in ways that we were unable to do.
Again what we can do for them is remember them in prayer. Eph.6:18 says "Praying always with ALL prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with ALL perserverance and supplication for ALL the saints."
Imagine you are native Iragian. Wouldn't you want to be assured that people around the world are on their knees praying for you and your country?
Pray is ALL I can say.

Dog Fight

I heard this on the radio the other day. They were talking about a battle that goes on inside of you. For illustration purposes say for example that there are two dogs battling it out inside of you. How do you know which one will win? The ANSWER: "It depends which one you feed."

Edgerton Sr. with Edgerton III

OK so this is from the wedding. Yeah my arms are huge. blame it on the delicious bread in Colombia!

Sorry these are soooo dated but grammy doesn't take pictures everyday. It took a few months to get the roll of film finished. Anyways this is another picture of us at Poppa and Grammy's house in August.

Cuz Emily and Luke from Arkansas. Luke just got engaged last week.

Things You Do In Your Sleep

SO I am not one to do alot of talking or walking in my sleep but a few strange things have happened lately. One morning I woke up with my sweatshirt in my hands. I wore my sweatshirt to bed and I had NO recollection of sitting up and taking it off because I was warm. HMMMMMMMM????? Then the other night I decided to roll over and pick up my cell phone. NO ring or nothing but I pick it up and a voice starts talking. It was so weird because I did not hear it ring or light up. Strange what we sometimes do in our sleep. What do you guys do? Come on we all have to have something goofy to share? :)

1/15/2005

God is NOT Boring

I have SOOO many things going through my mind right now I don't know where to begin..........Well how bout I start with the awesome news of Tisha and Chris finally getting engaged! lol Oh and Congrats to my cousin Luke who also got engaged this last week!! I swear like 6 couples have gotten engaged in the last month! Makes me wonder what's in the water? No not really, it's just that time.
Hmm... next thought-it is BUTT COLD outside! I highly despise cold weather with a PASSION! I would rather have it humid and a 100 degrees!!! :) Speaking of cold our basement is freezing!!!!
Now that I have whined and complained about the weather I hope to share with you what I learned today. Do you ever feel like there are days when you really do not want to read the Word and study it? I think all of us have days like that even though we truely do desire to get into it we just don't feel motivated. Motivation to read the Word and spend time with God obviously is initiated (sp)by the Holy Spirit, but you still have the responsiblity of responding to the Spirit. One thing that I have learned is don't read the Bible out of obligation. It won't be interesting and you may get frustrated because your reading the surface of God's Word therefore you may not get much out of it. Lazy attitudes contribute to our unmotivated set of mind.
Rather read the Bible because it reveals or unpacks our Savior who came to give us salvation. In other words you don't read the Bible to pass a test or quiz but you read it because it brings joy to your soul because it contains the whole shabang of your soul being saved from eternal death. I guess I could also say that reading the Bible is like reading God's journal/diary where he reveals who he really is, which is just one way he reveals Himself to us.
Then yesterday I came across the passage Hebrews 12:3-11 of which I encourage you to read and meditate. It discusses our Father's fatherly role in our lives. Just like toddlers we make mistakes and have to be "spanked" in order to help prevent making the same mistakes again, and just like toddlers it hurts when we get a love tap on the bum. But that is what we must remember that God disciplines us out of His love for us. He doesn't discipline us so he can smile grimly and say "Ha Ha Ha!" Our Daddy wants to protect us and give us the best life possible of which He has already planned out wayyyyyy far inadvance. Ok I could write more but I think this is getting alittle long, so I will continue later. Just remember "God is not boring, He created the whole universe!"

Spring Semester BEGINS

January 10, 2005. It's Monday morning and it is time to return to the levels of higher education. Usually I despise this day more than anything because it means more school!! However yesterday before I rose from my slumber I realized that I actually am looking forward to this semester because I actually like and enjoy the classes that I will be taking. BUT there is one class I do not care for which is American Literature but I have to take it for my major so 1 out of 6 is not bad at all! Marriage and Family is going to be awesome and I am so excited that Hilz and Justin Wagner are both in it, and Intro to Linguistics with Matty is going to be great fun too!!! Plus on top of that is my Religions of the World class which gets me so pumped!!!! AAHHHHH!!!! Sometimes I wish i could just take classes like that all the time. So far this semester looks like it is going to be extremely busy but i shall attempt to enjoy every bit of it!!!

Oh yeah! Congrats Parker on your engagement! That's awesome dude!!! (No I'm good)

Old Version of "Jesus Loves Me" :) So Cute!!!

A pastor once stated, "I always noticed that its was the adults who chose
the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a
hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see
they knew it the best."

Here is a new version just for us who have white hair, or no hair at all.
For us over 40 (or even those almost there) and all you others...Check out
this newest version of "Jesus Loves Me". It is quite cute, so read, sing
and enjoy:"

JESUS LOVES ME

Jesus loves me, this I know,

Though my hair is white as snow.

Though my sight is growing dim,

Still He bids me trust in Him.

(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME... YES, JESUS LOVES ME...
YES, JESUS LOVES ME FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,

With my hand in His I'll go.

On through life, let come what may,

He'll be there to lead the way.

(CHORUS)

Though I am no longer young,

I have much which He's begun.

Let me serve Christ with a smile,

Go with others the extra mile.

(CHORUS)

When the nights are dark and long,

In my heart He puts a song.

Telling me in words so clear,

"Have no fear, for I am near."

(CHORUS)

When my work on earth is done,

And life's victories have been won.

He will take me home above,

Then I'll understand His love.

(CHORUS)

I love Jesus, does he know?

Have I ever told Him so?

Jesus loves to hear me say,

That I love Him every day.
(From Aunt Ann)

Happy New Year

Can you believe it it is the year 2005?!?!?!?! We are already half way through this decade that seems like it just started not too long ago. Congrats to Tyler and Brooke on your marriage and God Bless. Courtney and Darby Congrats on your engagement!!! Love ya guys!!!

On a more serious note.... At this time of year the routine thing to do is to look back on the previous year and reflect on the good and the bad and the neutral. For some reason though tonight I feel like i should not spend a whole lot of time reflecting on this past year. Instead I think I need to have the mindset of looking onward/forward to what is going to come perhaps in this year! Don't get me wrong there are things about this last year that will be dear to my heart forever but this is a new year with new opportunities awaiting for all of us!!!
